Dr Emily Shao is a dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatology. She has a broad range of interests, including treating complex medical dermatology, paediatric dermatology, hair and scalp conditions, and cosmetic dermatology.

Dr Shao completed her medical degree at the University of Queensland and undertook her dermatology training across several tertiary hospitals in Queensland, including the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, the Princess Alexandra Hospital, the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, and the Queensland Children’s Hospital. She gained further international experience at the world-renowned National Skin Centre in Singapore.

In addition to dermatology training, Dr Shao has worked in various areas of medicine, including general medicine, cardiology, respiratory medicine, nephrology, and geriatric medicine. She has completed her physician examinations and worked as a medical registrar, which provided her with a broad foundation in medical care.

Dr Shao has an interest in public health and research and has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications. She completed a Master of Public Health at the University of Sydney, which strengthened her passion for public health and preventative medicine. She also holds a PhD from the University of Queensland, conducted through QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, where her research focused on keratinocyte cancer in kidney transplant recipients. She was awarded the Trans-Tasman Exchange Scholarship from the Australasian College of Dermatology, which allowed her to present her work internationally.

In addition to her private practice, Dr Shao holds a public appointment at The Prince Charles Hospital, where she works in the Dermatology Clinic within the Heart and Lung Transplant Unit. She also holds an Associate Lecturer title at the University of Queensland, and is involved in the education and training of future medical professionals.
